Tamhini Ghat about 75 km from Pune is famous for its waterfalls during the monsoons. It is also a nice weekend getaway for people from Pune and Mumbai. It is rich in flora and fauna. On the last count about 257 bird species were spotted in the Tamhini Forest. I had made many visits earlier but was unable to spot the birds due to thick growth. You could hear them chirping but could barely see.

Recently I chanced upon a bird hide being maintained by Ramdas Yenpure in this area. So, we visited this bird hide and were glad that we did this as we were able to see and photograph many rare birds which you don’t usually see.

You must be patient and sit quietly in the Bird Hide and you will be rewarded. Sharing few images which I clicked on 06 December 2021.

Ramdas who runs this Bird Hide is very courteous and enterprising person. He is knowledgeable and a good guide for birding. If you are a keen birder then this is a must visit place.
