It’s been months now that one has been indoors thanks to the Covid 19 scare. My bird photography has taken a big hit as it is not possible to get to birding destinations. Life and interest must carry on so I am now indulging in Macro Photography. I wonder why I didn’t get involved in this genre of photography earlier. Exploring the world of tiny creatures and other stuff is amazing.

I shoot macro with My Olympus OMD EM1 MK 2 Camera combined with 60mm f 2.8 macro lens. I enjoy photographing with this combination as its light weight and the ‘In body image Stablisation’ give me adequate stability to shoot handheld. No need to carry the cumbersome tripod which I hate. Don’t get me wrong, at times you just can’t do without a tripod.

As soon as there was a pause in the rain, I took my camera and headed for our society garden. The first thing which drew my attention was the rain drops on leaves, they looked like beads of pearls.

A few steps more and this True Fly sitting on a leaf obliged. True flies are insects of the order Diptera (from the Greek di = two, and ptera = wings).

…and then I saw this bug perched on a leaf. My resaerch tells me that this is a Stink Bug. It let’s out a bad stink if you disturb it or try to kill it, a self defense mechanism.

Saw this Big Queen Wasp flying around, tracked it and waited for it to settle down and then she literally posed for me…

The sting of these is very painful, I have experienced it few years back.

I always find these bees and wasps around in the garden and love snapping them. They pose a challenge as they remain static for only few moments.

These photos don’t come out as good right from the camera. You need to post process them to enhance sharpness and color.

That’s it for now, will be back with some more soon.
